Launch of STS-125

Space Shuttle Atlantis launches on STS-125, the fifth and final Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission. Over five spacewalks, astronauts installed two new science instruments and repaired two others that had failed in orbit, extending Hubble's operational life by more than a decade and leaving it more capable than at any point since its 1990 launch.
