Launch of Apollo 13

Apollo 13 launches from Kennedy Space Center, beginning what was planned as the third crewed Moon landing but instead became one of spaceflight's most famous survival stories. Two days into the mission, an oxygen tank ruptured, crippling the Command Module and forcing Jim Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise to use the Lunar Module as a makeshift lifeboat for the journey home — a crisis that mission controllers and the crew resolved together to bring all three astronauts back safely.
