Biography
The person behind the mission
Steven A. Hawley is an astronomer with a doctorate in astronomy and astrophysics who flew five Space Shuttle missions. As a mission specialist on STS-31 in 1990, he operated the robotic arm that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit, and he later flew on STS-82, the telescope's second servicing mission. Hawley went on to serve as Director of Flight Crew Operations at NASA's Johnson Space Center.
